Newave

Overview

Newave® sensorSolutions developed the patented wave® antenna, the only antenna specifically designed for item-level RFID setting a new standard for accuracy, versatility and efficiency. The wave antenna is newave’s core Platform Technology designed to enable RFID Solutions not previously possible, https://newaverfid.com/all-solutions. The wave was developed by the world-class ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL) of The Ohio State University (OSU), a pioneer in RF research under the direction of newave’s Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Dr. Dennis Burnside who was formerly the Director of the ESL. The wave was developed and produced in close partnership with Wistron NeWeb Corporation (WNC), the Taiwan-based global leader in antenna manufacturing. Newave’s management team leverages a strong heritage in RFID as well as senior management business expertise in variety industries globally, https://newaverfid.com/our-team.

A Brief newave History

Newave was founded in 2010 by Dr. Den Burnside, an Emeritus Professor at OSU and the former Director of OSU’s ESL. Dr. Burnside, an internationally renowned expert in RF technology, and his colleague Robert Burkholder PhD EE created the wave platform. Dr Burkholder is a shareholder in and advisor to Newave.

The development of the wave antenna platform was financially supported by WNC the exclusive global manufacturer for the wave antenna, a significant investor in Newave and a Member on Newave’s Board of Directors. WNC is well positioned to commercialize the wave technology platform in Asia as well as with their global client base.  In 2010, Newave established its Innovation Center (IC) in Plain City (Columbus), Ohio at which our proprietary RFID item-level solutions can be demonstrated. The IC is newave’s incubation laboratory at which we conduct proprietary item-level testing technology to both create and improve solutions, resulting in nine patents to date. Newave and WNC jointly and exclusively own all RFID intellectual property.

Newave was born out of years of research conducted at The Ohio State University's ElectroScience Laboratory (ESL). The ESL is a major "Center-of-Excellence" within The Ohio State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. ESL is one of the largest Radio Frequency (RF) university-based research laboratories in the world. In fact, much of the original radio frequency research was completed by ESL for the benefit of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), which includes the creation of the Stealth systems. Dr. Den Burnside, the CTO of newave was the principle in developing the commercial application wireless research as the Director of the ESL. This experience has resulted in a unique RF understanding and revolutionary patented RF products that can advance RFID applications to the next level. https://electroscience.osu.edu
